- Notes:
- Incomplete setlist comes via Joshua Dalton who did not enjoy the show at all + a review in the Desert News by Jeff Vice who wrote: "A four-piece, multiracial unit, Rage sounds almost like New York's legendary Bad Brains, had that band hit on rap and hip-hop to blend with their hardcore-cum-metal rather than reggae. Frontman/vocalist Zack de la Rocha was riveting, delivering message-laden intros to a receptive throng, while guitarist Tom Morello proved he can hold his own with the best, even Living Colour's Vernon Reid, and still come out on top. From "Township Rebellion" to "Fistful of Steel" to "Bullet in the Head," Rage's set did exactly that - raging with the intensity of an angry young band that has a lot to say and has the tools to make their message interesting. Unlike House of Pain, Rage was refreshingly honest and raw, relying on real instrumentation for their funk-punk-metal-rap-hip-hop sound rather than sampling and scratching like the headliner (hey, even the Beasties play their own instruments now). De la Rocha also summed up the band's attitude and the frustrations of the band's young fans best in "Wake Up:" "I'll give ya a dose/But it'll never come close/To the rage built up inside of me/Fist in the air, in the land of hypocrisy." Even if Rage weren't so incredibly talented, such notions would make them at least a guilty pleasure. But they are incredible, especially live. They're one of those bands that make you proud to be a music fan and happy such groups exist to cancel out all the Houses of Pain in the world."
