The local Grant County sheriff tried to shut down the show, and 79 peoplee were ultimately arrested. The largest law enforcement team ever for a performance at the Gorge was assembled by the sheriff. This ultimately led Rage to open with Fuck Tha Police. Zack had this to say during Roll Right: "So Sheriff Wiester, you think you can intimate us? There's so few of you and so many of us. You think you can get up on a microphone and run off your mouth talking about how we're violent? We all know you're trying to get re-elected you don't need to pass that bullshit onto us. There ain't nothing more threatening than a pig with political aspirations. And we take it as an insult that you have the nerve to call us violent. Because cops around the country are out of fucking control. Yet you have the nerve to call us violent after last year there were 80,000 cases of police brutality filed against departments all over the country. And this sheriff pig is popping off. Popping off about how we're violent. And you have the most violent gang in US history talking about how we're violent. We ain't taking it. Because Rage Against the Machine believes in the teachings of Malcolm X. What Malcolm taught us is that we have the right to defend ourselves. And departments ain't gonna stop the abuse. And Washington ain't gonna stop the abuse. The community has to stand up for themselves and stop the abuse. And the best way to stop it is to get organized. And defend ourselves. If the cops think that by running up on your community and beating on one of you or beating up on one of your family and they could lose their lives they'll think twice about it. So if we keep our cool and they keep their cool. If one of those racist cops messes with you, you send them to the cemetery. Send them to the cemetery. So we want to send this out to the police department in Gorge and all over the state. This song is called Killing in the Name."
